Framing Contemporary Art
in Secondary Visual & Media Arts

Coming in January!

Instructor: Dr. Colleen Brennan

Using a set of simple tools, it's possible to have dynamic, engaging discussions with secondary students (even those who are "reluctantly" studying art) about contemporary visual and media artworks -- really, it is! During this 3-session workshop, we'll explore artworks at the Walker Art Center and in the Walker Sculpture Garden to get familiar with the Frames tools and conceptual framework before creating lessons and teaching materials to implement in practice.

Inspiring Students throughout the
AP Depth Portfolio Experience

Coming in January!

Instructor: Dr. Colleen Brennan

The AP Depth Portfolio requires students to think conceptually while demonstrating skills. As studio teachers, we're usually fairly comfortable mentoring students in skill development, but helping students develop a vision or concept for a series of work can seem daunting since this is where art gets personal. Participants in this workshop will learn to constructively critique student work, and will develop AP curriculum, materials and practices proven to help students develop viable ideas. This workshop includes 2 live sessions and follow-up virtual mentorship as you put all you develop into practice.
